Hey guys, hope you guys are doing well. So firstly wishing you guys, Subho Bijaya. Well as you guys must be knowing I am from the city of joy Kolkata, and Durga Puja is the sole festival we all wait for every year. It’s the time of the year when the entire city is lit beautifully. It starts with the making of idols in Kumartuli to visiting all stunning themed pandals in the city, and not to forget having delicious dishes along with it. 😍
So I was cordially invited as a guest blogger at the grand inauguration of Nihar Naturals Akai Aiksho Durga Pujo Pandal at the very famous Maddox Square! Oh yes, whenever it comes to Durga Puja the first Pandal that comes to our mind is Maddox Square. So this year Nihar Naturals came up with a very unique idea of celebrating women empowerment, the strength & power of feminism through the entire concept of – Goddess Durga in every woman. 🎉
‘Akai Aiksho’ is a colloquial Bangla phrase which means “One is equal to hundred”. Through this idea, Nihar Naturals being the No.1 Hair Oil Brand in East India, celebrates the spirit of modern Indian women who are independent, powerful and self-sufficient. She has the strength to withstand challenges, to take on responsibilities, to stand up for her rights, to show compassion and nurturance and to question society when it matters.
The Nihar Naturals Akai Aiksho Pujo Pandal was specially setup for every women to embrace their untold story.
In this pandal, there was no Goddess Durga idol, but women from all over Bengal worshiped none the less through the stories of courage, will power, and strength.
It was such a pleasure experiencing these stories of famous as well as local women who have championed the challenges in their lives and made their mark despite the circumstances. We had the stunning famous Bengali actor Mimi Chakroborty who inaugurated the pandal and introduced us to the strong women from Bengal. I had this opportunity to speak to her in person and getting to know her love and affection for the city and her pleasure in working with Nihar Naturals as well.
We had an interactive session with Amrita Mukhopadhyay who enlightened us about her untold story of domestic violence. After her marriage, she was tortured for dowry by her in-laws & husband. This is something which remains unspoken within the doors of homes especially in rural areas but it’s time to speak up. In-spite of everything happening around her, she decided to pursue her education & got a job in a government school as Bengali teacher. Being a true motivation and a crusader against child marriage and domestic violence she also runs a school for specially abled children. Such women are nothing but true inspiration to everyone. The way they teach us how to fight for our rights & rise above all the hurdles is definitely remarkable.
